Community
DALA aims to build a supportive community of disabled legal professionals that can offer opportunities for connection, the sharing of experiences and dialogue, professional growth and mentorship with a view to supporting disabled legal professionals having the confidence to be their authentic selves.
DALA aims to assist in the creation of safe, inclusive and shared spaces where disabled legal professionals can share their lived experience, such as through in-person or online networking events.
DALA recognises that barriers for participation in the workforce exist at various stages. By increasing the sense of community and greater connection amongst disabled legal professionals, DALA aims to increase awareness on navigating some of those barriers by sharing lived experiences in a safe space, particularly to support more newer and junior disable legal professionals.
DALA has been supported in its advocacy by strong sector partners, including universities, which it hopes will ultimately eventuate into greater opportunities and retention of disabled legal professionals.
